Car hire
We consider car hire to be essential for this holiday. The drive is pretty simple, whichever airport you choose, as the A7 motorway goes straight through from Castellon airport, Valencia, Reus and Barcelona to Peniscola.

There are alternatives. A train service runs from Benicarlo (the next resort to Peniscola) to both Valencia and Barcelona. You’ll need to take a short taxi journey, though, to get from the station to the airport, and also from the station to the complex.
The guy who caretakes the property will, by prior arrangement, collect and return you to Valencia or Reus airports. It’s quite expensive as you have to pay for his time, fuel and the motorway tolls. It’s not a cheaper option than car hire, but it’s something to consider if you don’t particularly like driving abroad.
Once there, there’s a bus service to and from Nerea during high season to the town centre. It runs every hour and the cost is a couple of euros. Lots of people walk into town - its about a 15 minute walk along the coast road.
